Ga Southern Eagles (3-1) at Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks (1-2)
|Date & Time||Saturday October 3, 2015, 7:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks +6 -- Over/Under: 51
The Georgia Southern Eagles take their option to Malone Stadium to oppose the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.
After getting thrashed in the season opener by West Virginia the Georgia Southern Eagles have been rolling on both sides of the ball. The Eagle won their third straight in a 44-20 win at the Kibbie Dome. Idaho trailed just16-13 at the half before GSU went crazy on the way to 568 yards with the Vandals checking in with 395 yards. As usual the Eagles didn’t throw much with Kevin Ellison going 6-14 for 105 yards and an interception with BJ Johnson snagging four throws for 93 yards. Matt Breida paced the Georgia Southern rushing attack with 179 yards and two score on 12 tries while Ellison used his legs to gain 134 yards on 13 carries and a pair of trips to the end zone.
The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks fell to 1-2 on the season with a 34-0 road defeat at the hands of Alabama. Nothing surprising or to be ashamed of here as the Crimson Tide were a bit too big and fast on both sides of the ball. Bama won the yardage battle 303-92 as they got an early lead and turned things over to the defense. ULM desperately needed a run game to move the chains and eat clock with the added benefit of keeping the Crimson Tide offense on the sideline but were held to less then 40 yards. The Warhawks passing attack wasn’t enough to compensate with Garrett Smith going 17-37 for 74 yards and a pair of interceptions.
The under is 4-0 in Eagles last 4 conference games and the Eagles are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a SU win of more than 20 points while Georgia Southern are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game. The Warhawks are 3-0-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and the over is 4-0 in Warhawks last 4 home games vs. a team with a winning road record while UL Monroe are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 conference games. I’ll back the Eagles but I don’t think it’s wise to ignore UL Monroe completely….
