The Line: Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks +7 -- Over/Under:
Instate rivals the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns and Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks meet at Malone Stadium.
The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns did not look good early on but they have turned things around with the Sun Belt title within their grasp. The Ragin' Cajuns have won five in a row following a 44-16 rout of New Mexico State on the road. ULL was up 21-3 heading in to the locker room and were never in danger with their defense allowing 307 yards and 14 first downs while recovering a fumble and picking off three passes. The Cajuns totaled 407 yards with 36+ minutes of possession with Terrance Broadway completing 12-23 for 158 yards and three touchdowns while Elijah McGuire ran for 136 yards with a score while Effrem Reed added 65 yards and a TD.
If you have followed the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks in 2014 then you know it's tough to figure this team out at times. What we do know is the Warhawks have dropped five in a row after a 31-29 defeat at Appalachian State with the Mountaineers connecting on a 39 yard field goal with 29 seconds remaining to secure the win. The Mountaineers won the yardage battle 380-299 with both teams leaning on their passing attacks. Centarius Donald gave UL Monroe some semblance of a rushing attack with 71 yards on 16 carries but this team looked to the passing of Pete Thomas to move the chains. Thomas completed 20-41 for 244 yards with a three yard and 12 yard touchdowns to Ajalen Holley and Kenzee Jackson.
The Ragin' Cajuns are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games on grass while going 4-0 ATS in their last 4 conference games. For UL Monroe the over is 4-0 in Warhawks last 4 home games vs. a team with a winning road record while the Warhawks are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games on grass and the under is 4-1 in Warhawks last 5 games on grass. Head to head the Ragin' Cajuns are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings in UL Monroe while the road team is 10-1 ATS in their last 11 meetings with the underdog going 12-2 ATS in their last 14 meetings. The Ragin' Cajuns are surging and heading in opposite direction of the Warhawks but ULL can and has laid an egg before so I'll cautiously lay the TD...
