The Texas State Bobcats visit Malone Stadium to tangle with the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks in week 7 college football.

The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks played Auburn and Oklahoma and got smoked so their Bowl season is already in jeopardy following a 34-31 loss to visiting Idaho as a three point favorite. The Warhawks outgained the Vandals 523-414 but had a blocked punt returned for a touchdown and turned the ball over three times which killed them. UL Monroe Garrett Smith completed 20-38 for 302 yards and a pair of touchdowns which was wiped out by three interceptions. Smith led ULM on the ground with 88 yards and a score on 13 totes with Ben Luckett adding 57 yards and another score. Xavier Brown caught three passes for 96 yards including a 44 yard touchdown with the Warhawks having five receivers with at least 40 yards.

The Texas State Bobcats have been tough for me to figure out and probably disappointing to their fans after blowing a 14-0 lead in a 41-21 loss at Georgia State as a ten point underdog in week six. The game was wide open and mistake filled with the Bobcats outgained 536-420 with each team committing three turnovers. Texas State was not very good on the ground with Stedman Mayberry’s 87 yards on 26 carries not being enough. Bobcats quarterback Tyler Jones went 27-47 for 300 yards and a touchdown but a pair of interceptions ruined a very good day. Elijah King paced Texas State in receiving with five receptions for 85 yards but miscues and defense ended up as killers.

Texas State are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and the over is 5-0 in Texas State last 5 road games vs. a team with a losing home record while the over is 4-0 in Texas State last 4 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game. The over is 4-0 in UL Monroe last 4 vs. a team with a losing record and UL Monroe  are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game while UL Monroe are 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 games in October.

This looks like a pick your poison type contest which I believe the Warhawks offense will be the deciding factor…

Pick:
UL Monroe -5.5

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
