Indiana State Sycamores (0-0) at Louisville Cardinals (0-1)
|Date & Time||Saturday September 8, 2018, 7:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Louisville Cardinals -42.5 -- Over/Under: 68.5
The Indiana State Sycamores and the Louisville Cardinals will be matching up at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium on Saturday, September 8 in college football activity.
Indiana State comes into this one at 1-0 on the young season, following an opening-week win 49-0 over the Quincy Hawks. The Sycamores scored pretty consistently in that one, with 14 points in three of the four quarters.
Jalil Kilpatrick posted an efficient if unexciting line through the air, going 8-of-13 for 84 yards. Titus McCoy and Jaquan Keys, led the way on the ground for the Sycamores, banging out 23 carries for 161 yards and three scores between them.
The Cardinals got the unlucky situation of visiting Alabama in their opening week, falling 51-14 in blowout fashion. Louisville allowed 28 points in the first half but looked a little better when the Tide took their foot off the gas.
Jawon Pass had an up-and-down outing in Louisville’s opener, finishing with 20-for-39 passing for 252 yards, two scores and two INTs. The Cardinals pretty much abandoned the running game and played from behind the whole way in that one, as their lead rusher (Trey Smith) had just 11 yards on four totes.
The under is 6-1-1 in the Sycamores’ last eight overall and 6-1-1 in their last eight road games. The under is also 6-1-1 in Indiana State’s last eight non-conference games.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 0-4 ATS in their last four games in September and 1-8-1 ATS in the last 10 non-conference games. Louisville is 1-5 ATS in their last six games after allowing more than 200 rush yards in their previous game.
The Sycamores didn’t have much trouble whatsoever in their first game, but no one really expected that one to be close, either. The good news for Indiana State is that the running game looked good; four people had at least 64 rush yards. Louisville got a bad draw coming out of the gate, so I expect them to take out their frustrations here. I’m going to go Cardinals.
