The Samford Bulldogs and Louisville Cardinals meet Saturday at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
The Samford Bulldogs look to build on their 2-1 start with an impressive road victory. Michael Eubank is completing 68.6 percent of his passes for 907 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions. Eubank and Devlin Hodges have combined for 1,054 passing yards. Karel Hamilton and Emmanuel Obajimi have combined for 438 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Kelvin McKnight has 11 receptions. The Samford Bulldogs ground game is averaging 182.3 yards per contest, and Denzel Williams leads the way with 219 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Samford is allowing 22.7 points and 438 yards per game. Justin Cooper leads the Bulldogs with 25 tackles, Jared Holloway has two sacks and James Bradberry has four pass deflections.
The Louisville Cardinals are still looking for their first victory after a brutal 0-3 start to the year. Kyle Bolin is completing 55.8 percent of his passes for 395 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Bolin and Lamar Jackson have combined for five picks. Jaylen Smith and Micky Crum have combined for 329 receiving yards and one touchdown while Traveon Samuel has 12 receptions. The Louisville Cardinals ground game is averaging 109 yards per contest, and Brandon Radcliff leads the way with 164 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Louisville is allowing 28.3 points and 396.7 yards per game. Keith Kelsey leads the Cardinals with 33 tackles, Sheldon Rankins has a sack and Josh Harvey-Clemons has two interceptions. Cole Hikutini, Johnny Richardson and James Quick are questionable.
Louisville hasn't exactly had an easy schedule, but it has certainly shown weaknesses in its first few games and has serious questions at the quarterback position. Samford is a well coached team and has already topped 40 points in two of its first three games.
I don't like this game much, but if forced to pick, I'm fading Louisville based on what we've seen so far.
