The LSU Tigers and the Ole Miss Rebels face off on Saturday at Tiger Stadium for a SEC college football slugfest.
The LSU Tigers are at 6-2 for the season and have won three of their last four games. LSU’s offense appears to be improving and they are averaging 35.6 points and 415.2 yards per game. Anthony Jennings has completed 50 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns and three interceptions and Brandon Harris has six touchdowns. Leonard Fournette is averaging five yards epr carry with seven touchdowns to lead the LSU ground attack and Travin Dural is the Tigers leading receiver with 26 catches and seven touchdowns. The LSU defense is allowing 17 points per game and 318.8 yards with eight interceptions, 13 sacks, and eight fumble recoveries. Kwon Alexander has 49 tackles, Danielle Hunter has 46 tackles and Ronald Martin has 43 tackles. LSU is young but talented ad with each game they get more experience.
The Ole Miss Rebels are undefeated and are looking like atop contender to win the SEC. Ole Miss has come up with steady plays on offense and sound defense and appear to have found the winning formula. The Mississippi offense is averaging 35.4 points and 433.3 yards per game. QB Bo Wallace has been solid completing 65.6 percent of his passes with 17 touchdowns and six interceptions and rushing for another two touchdowns. Jaylen Walton is the Rebels leading rusher averaging 5.9 yards per carry with four touchdowns and Laquon Treadwell is Ole Miss’ leading receiver with 34 catches and four touchdowns. The Ole Miss defense is rock soli allowing 10.6 points and 290.6 yards per game with 15 interceptions, five fumble recoveries, and 18 sacks. Tony Connor has 42 tackles, Cody Prewitt is the leader and has 37 tackles, and Marquis Haynes has 6.5 sacks. Ole Miss plays a physical style that has worn down their opponents.
LSU is 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games, 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games, and 5-11-1 against the spread following a win. Ole Miss is 4-0 against the spread in their last four SEC games, 3-0-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 road games. The underdog has covered the point spread in 13 of the last 16 meetings of these two.
We have two good defenses and the total is set at 46 and I can see it staying under that number. My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well on the App.
