The Line: LSU Tigers -37.5 -- Over/Under: 51
We have some college football action from Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge as the Southeastern Louisiana Lions take on the #25 LSU Tigers.
The Southeastern Louisiana Lions will look to rebound after narrowly missing out on the upset with a 34-31 loss to Louisiana-Monroe in their last outing. Chason Virgil threw for 358 yards, 4 touchdowns and an interception on 28 of 39 passing, while Devonte Williams led the Lions in rushing with a team-high 6 carries for 27 yards. Juwan Petit-Frere led the Lions with 5 catches for 148 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Lorenzo Nunez and Austin Mitchell each contributed a touchdown catch as well in the losing effort. Defensively, Ferlando Jordan logged an interception while Tamarcus Russell led the Lions with 10 tackles in the losing effort.
The LSU Tigers started the season with a bang following a 33-17 win over Miami in their season opener on Sunday night. Joe Burrow threw for 140 yards on 11 of 24 passing while Nick Brossette led LSU with 22 carries for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns. Justin Jefferson led LSU with 5 catches for 81 yards while no other LSU receiver registered more than 2 receptions in the win. Jacob Phillips logged a pick-six for the Tigers while LSU combined for 4 sacks and Devin White led the defense with 4 tackles in the winning effort.
Trends will be updated when they’ve been released.
The Lions did a good job hanging around against ULM, but the problem is that the Warhawks aren’t on the level below LSU. The Tigers did a solid job silencing any doubters (myself included) about any question marks going into week 1. I’d like to see a little bit more from the QB position for LSU, but the Tigers haven’t been a pass first team in a long time anyways. I see this one being a rout from the opening kickoff, so I’ll lay the points with LSU here.
