The Marshall Thundering Herd shoot for their 4th win when the Old Dominion Monarchs pay a visit.
The Old Dominion Monarchs gave up a ton of points a season ago but the one thing they could do was find the end zone behind the passing of Taylor Heinicke. Not the case thus far with Heinicke gone and especially so in a 49-0 rout at the hands of Appalachian State where nothing went their way. The Mountaineers moved the ball at will with over 500 yards while the Monarchs were held to 175 yards and four turnovers. ODU mustered less then 50 yards on the ground so moving the chains was left to the passing of Schuler Bentley who hit on 16-28 for 133 yards and a pair of interceptions with Zach Pascal snagging five balls for 49 yards.
The Marshall Thundering Herd were threats to go unbeaten a season ago but something appears to be missing in 2015 and obviously quarterback Rakeem Cato is the name that first comes to mind. The Thundering Herd have forged a 3-1 record following a 36-29, overtime win at Kent State. The Golden Flashes had advantages throughout the boxscore with a 436-277 yardage edge while forcing three turnovers. The running of Tony Pittman paced the Marshall offense with129 yards and a pair of trips to the end zone on 24 carries. Marshall struggled for consistency in the air with Chase Litton hitting 14-36 for 151 yards and a pair of TD’s with two interceptions. DeAndre Reaves was an unsung hero with a kick return for a big score.
The under is 4-0 in Monarchs last 4 games following a ATS loss and the Monarchs are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game while ODU are 0-8 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. loss. The under is 4-0 in Thundering Herd last 4 games following a ATS win and are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 home games while the under is 11-4 in Thundering Herd last 15 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game. Old Dominion won’t win this game but I think their team total might be worth a shot…
