The Line: Maryland Terrapins +2.5 -- Over/Under:
The Michigan State Spartans and Maryland Terrapins clash Saturday night in a Big Ten college football game at Maryland Stadium.
The Michigan State Spartans are desperate for a victory that would snap a brutal four-game losing streak. The Michigan State Spartans have not lost five games since the 2012 college football season. Tyler O'Connor is completing 61.1 percent of his passes for 1,257 yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions. O'Connor has two or more touchdown passes in four of the six games this season. R.J. Shelton and Donnie Corley have combined for 762 receiving yards and six touchdowns while Monty Madaris has 16 receptions. The Michigan State Spartans ground game is averaging 136.1 yards per contest, and LJ Scott leads the way with 336 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Michigan State is allowing 30 points and 378.2 yards per game. Montae Nicholson leads the Michigan State Spartans with 54 tackles, Raequan Williams has two sacks and Andrew Dowell has one interception.
The Maryland Terrapins could also use a victory to snap back-to-back losses in which they were outscored, 69-24.The Maryland Terrapins have lost four of their last six home games. Tyrrell Pigrome is completing 50 percent of his passes for 265 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Perry Hills remains questionable with a shoulder injury that kept him out last week. D.J. Moore and Teldrick Morgan have combined for 487 receiving yards and five touchdowns while Ty Johnson has seven receptions. The Maryland Terrapins ground game is averaging 250 yards per contest, and Lorenzo Harrison III leads the way with 397 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Maryland is allowing 21.2 points and 356 yards per game. Shane Cockerille leads the Maryland Terrapins with 49 tackles, Jesse Aniebonam has 5.5 sacks and JC Jackson has one interception.
The Spartans are 0-3-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Terrapins are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game.
Perry Hills is still questionable with a shoulder injury, but I'm not sure that matters whether he plays or not. Michigan State is a team that's lost its way is and playing with zero confidence. The Spartans don't have a quarterback who can be a difference maker and a Michigan State defense that used to be one of the best in the country just allowed 54 points to Northwestern. I have no confidence in Michigan State right now.
Give me Maryland at home and the free points.
