The Tulane Green Wave travel to the Liberty Bowl to take the field with the Memphis Tigers.
The Tulane Green Wave drew a tough assignment in Navy in week eight and apparently too tough in a 31-14 defeat that dropped their record to 2-5. The Green Wave defended well with a 386-291 edge in yards and held the Midshipmen to a mere 133 rushing yards but shot themselves in the foot with three turnovers. Quarterback Tanner Lee gave Tulane 205 passing yards on 22-31 and an interception with Teddy Veal leading ten receivers with six catches for 59 yards as Lee spread the ball around. The Green wave were successful when running behind Dontrell Hilliard and his nine carry, 51 yard effort with a TD followed by Jay Rounds wit 48 yards on six tries.
The Memphis Tigers can certainly light up the scoreboard and that has led to a 7-0 record after a 66-42 victory at Tulsa. The Tigers could not be stopped at all with over 700 yards the Golden Hurricane were stopped by themselves with 534 yards but also three costly turnovers. Paxton Lynch gave Memphis another huge game in the air with 447 yards and four touchdowns on 32-44 with Mose Frazier hauling in ten throws for 128 yards while Anthony Miller grabbed five balls for 105 yards and a TD. The Tigers were just as punishing on the ground with Doroland Dorceus rambling for 138 yards and a pair of TD’s on 32 touches while Jamarius Henderson ran for 112 yards on 14 totes and two TD’s.
The Green Wave are 1-5 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and the under is 8-2 in Green Wave last 10 games on fieldturf while going 11-3-1 in Green Wave last 15 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game. The over is 7-0 in Tigers last 7 games following a ATS win and the over is 7-0 in Tigers last 7 games following a SU win of more than 20 points while going 8-1 in Tigers last 9 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game. The Green Wave are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings in Memphis and are 0-8 ATS in their last 8 meetings while the under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings. I’m not sure Tulane can stop Memphis from scoring but the Memphis defense worries me a bit…
