The Michigan Wolverines put their unbeaten record on the line when they visit the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
The Michigan Wolverines are holding out hope that a National Championship playoff berth is in their near future and so far they are on track with a 5-0 record after surviving Wisconsin 14-7 in week five. All the cards favored the Wolverines as they outgained the Badgers 349-159 and intercepted three passes. The Michigan ground game wasn’t a factor with De’Veon Smith gaining 66 yards on 17 totes while Ty Isaac being the most effective runner with 48 yards on eight carries. Wolverines quarterback Wilton Speight was productive, connecting on 20-32 for 219 yards and a touchdown with an interception with top target Amara Darboh hauling in six passes for 87 yards including a 46 yard scoring strike.
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights knew they had their work cut out for them when they traveled to Ohio State in week five. A 58-0 defeat says it was too much work as the Buckeyes racked up 669 and 32 first downs while RU was held to 116 yards and nine first downs with just over 21 minutes of possession. Rutgers quarterback Chris Laviano went 3-12 fo33 yards Jawuan Harris making all three receptions. The Scarlet Knights received 40 yards on 13 carries from Robert Martin but the team simply struggled to move the chains and Ohio State never punted so nothing needs to be added as the boxscore says it all.
Michigan are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and the over is 5-0 in Michigan’s last 5 games following a ATS loss while going 4-0 in Michigan’s last 4 road games. Rutgers are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game and the over is 6-1 in Rutgers last 7 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game while Rutgers are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game.
The Scarlet Knights get Ohio State and Michigan in back to back weeks and that would be tough on anybody. I’ll lay the points but I’m not thrilled with this game…
