The Tennessee State Tigers and the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders will meet up in Week 2 college football action Saturday.
Tennessee State kicked the season off with a win in Week 1, taking out Mississippi Valley State 26-20. The Tigers scored in every quarter of that game and were 4-for-5 on field goals.
The Tigers’ Cameron Rosendahl passed for 330 yards and a touchdown in Week 1, while Te’Kentrick Roberson led the run on 75 yards. Tennessee State’s top receiver was Chris Rowland, who went off for 172 yards and a TD on 11 grabs.
Over on the Middle Tennessee side, they got a tough matchup in Week 1, facing off against the Michigan Wolverines. The Blue Raiders fell in that one 40-21, scoring just seven points after the break.
The Blue Raiders’ Asher O’Hara managed 217 yards, two TDs and one pick in the loss Week 1, and also led the rush on 32 yards and a score. Jimmy Marshall had one big catch for 59 yards and a score.
The Tigers are 4-0 ATS in their last four after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game and 4-0 ATS in their last four after allowing less than 100 rushing in their previous game. Tennessee State is 5-0 ATS in their last five after posting less than 275 total yards in their previous game as well.
Meanwhile, the under is 8-1 in the Raiders’ last nine games in September and 6-1 in the last seven home games versus a team with a winning road record. The over is 6-1 in MTSU’s last seven after allowing more than 450 yards total in their previous game.
There were some sketchy moments in Tennessee State’s opening-week win, but they get credit for consistently chipping away at the scoreboard and keeping the Delta Devils at bay.
As for the Blue Raiders, they put up a reasonable showing against one of the country’s powerhouse programs and should take a little pride in that. I like Middle Tennessee to come out strong here and cover in what should be a fun game.
