The Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs face off on Saturday in college football action.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs are off to a 4-2 start to the season with both of their losses coming to teams in the SEC. The Mississippi State offense is averaging 32.3 points and 422.5 yards per game while turning the ball over seven times. MSU QB Dak Prescott has completed 64.8 percent of his passes with eight touchdown passes and no interceptions and he has rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns. Ashton Shumpert is Mississippi State’s leading running back with 159 yards and a touchdown and Fred Ross is the top receiver with 35 cathces and a touchdown and De’Runnya Wilson has 22 catches and three touchdowns. The MSU defense is allowing 17.7 points and 361 yards per game with four interceptions, a fumble recovery, and 17 sacks. Richie Brown has 54 tackles, three sacks, and an interception, Beniquez Brown has 39 tackles, and A.J. Jefferson has 33 tackles. Mississippi State has already taken a loss at home this season.
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are 4-2 this season and they have won their last three games. The Louisiana Tech offense is averaging 39.5 points and 493.7 yards per game and they have turned the ball over nine times. La. Tech QB Jeff Driskel has completed 61 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions and he has rushed for 211 yards and five touchdowns. Kenneth Dixon leads LT in rushing with 583 yards and six touchdowns and Trent Taylor is the top receiver with 49 receptions and four touchdowns. The La Tech defense is allowing 26.2 points and 361.5 yards per game with six interceptions, four fumble recoveries, and 11 sacks. Beau Fitte leads Louisiana Tech with 46 tackles, Nick Thomason has 36 tackles, and Kentrell Brice has 29 tackles. La Tech’s last loss was to Kansas State in overtime.
Mississippi State is 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 home games, 1-4 against the spread in their last five non-conference games, and 15-3 against the spread in their last 18 home games against a team with a winning road record. Louisiana Tech is 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 road games, 6-2 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 14-6 against the spread in their last 20 games.
