The Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Vanderbilt Commodores face off on Saturday in Week 13 SEC college football action.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs are coming off of their first loss of the season battling back but still losing by five at Alabama. Even with the loss Mississippi State has a chance to make the college football playoffs if they can win out. The MSU offense is averaging 37.8 points and 512.7 yards per game and they are led by QB Dak Prescott who as completed 60.3 percent of his passes with 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions and he has rushed for 861 yards and 11 touchdowns. Josh Robinson leads Mississippi State in rushing with 1,021 yards and 11 touchdowns and De’Runnya Wilson leads the Bulldogs in receiving with 30 catches and six touchdowns and Keon Lewis is healthy again and he is the most talented of the receivers. The Mississippi State defense allows 20.2 points and 418 yards per game creating 18 turnovers and 33 sacks. Bernardrick McKinney has 58 tackles, Beniquez Brown has 54 tackles, and Preston Smith has 8.0 sacks. Mississippi State still has their showdown with Ole Miss next week.
The Vanderbilt Commodores are eliminated from bowl contention this season with seven losses but after a bye last week they should be well rested and ready to go for this one. Vandy’s offense is averaging 18.9 points and 296.5 yards per game and they have used several QB’s this season most recently it was Johnny McCrary and Patton Robinette but no QB has played well enough to win consistently. Ralph Webb lead Vanderbilt in rushing with 843 yards and three touchdowns and Steven Scheu is the leading receiver 33 receptions. The Vandy defense is allowing 32.4 points and 4-6.1 yards per game with 11 turnovers created and 14 sacks. Nigel Bowden has 74 tackles, Torren McGaster has 55 tackles, and Zach Cunningham has 47 tackles. It has been a big step back for Vanderbilt this season.
Mississippi State is 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 SEC games, 11-4 against the spread in their last 15 games, and 6-15 against the spread against a team with a losing record. Vanderbilt is 6-0 against the spread in their last six road games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five SEC games, and 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games. Vanderbilt is 1-5 against the spread in their last six games against Mississippi State.
