The Air Force Falcons visit the Navy Midshipmen in a battle of option attacks in week five action.

I think the jury is still out on the Air Force Falcons who lost some players from a very successful 2014 campaign. The Falcons fell to 2-1 on the year in week four with a 35-21 defeat at Michigan State. AFA looked dead in the water when trailing 28-7 at the half but they did move  the ball and defense was effective. The Falcons outgained the Spartans 428-324 but turned the ball over three times with one fumble returned for six by MSU. Quarterback Karson Roberts was effective in the air with 149 yards on 6-9 with a 38 yard scoring strike to Jalen Robinette to make the Spartans respect the pass.  Jacobi Owens paced Air Force on the ground with72 yards on 14 tries with Benton Washington adding 52 yards on seven totes with a TD while three others combined for 126 yards.

The Navy Midshipmen upped their record to 3-0 following a 28-18 victory at Connecticut as a seven point favorite. The Middies managed a slight 343-325 advantage in yardage with the Huskies at least containing the option. Quarterback Keenan Reynolds was successful in the air on a 3-4 effort with a 19 yard touchdown to Jamir Tillman that probably surprised UConn more then anything. Reynolds paced the Middies on the ground with 142 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries while Chris Swain added 58 yards on ten totes with DeBrandon Sanders and Quentin Ezell combined for another 78 yards. Overall the Midshipmen averaged five yards on 60 rushes.

The Falcons are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games and are 5-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record while going  5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall.   The Midshipmen are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game and   are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game while the over is 5-0 in Midshipmen last 5 home games. The Falcons are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 meetings in Navy and   are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 meetings while the under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings. The line has dropped but I’ll take a stab with the Middies…

Pick:
Navy -5

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
