The Line: Navy Midshipmen -6.5 -- Over/Under: 47
The Army Black Knights look to beat the Navy Midshipmen in college football for the first time in forever.
The Navy Midshipmen were stellar in their first season in the American although they have to be disappointed in not winning the conference title with a 34-10 defeat to Temple ruining that goal. The Owls won the yardage battle 388-306 while Navy turned the ball over three times and could not run effectively. Midshipmen quarterback Zach Abey struggled in the air, going 7-13 for 104 yards and a pair of interceptions with Jamir Tillman catching three balls for 49 yards. Abey was the Middies lone source of production on the ground with 70 yards on 14 carries and a one yard scoring plunge.
On first look, the Army Black Knights don’t look out of the ordinary with a 6-5 record but this is a special season with the team heading to a Bowl game after ending the year with a leisurely 60-3 romp over Morgan State to qualify for the postseason. The Black Knights limited the Bears to a mere 124 yards while racking up 561 yards themselves with over 500 coming on the ground. Army quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw hit 3-7 for 57 yards and a touchdown with Edgar Poe catching two passes including a 31 yard score. Andy Davidson, Cole Macek and Darnell Woolfolk formed the nucleus of a pounding rushing attack with a combined 323 yards and five touchdowns on 32 carries.
Navy are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game and Navy are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss while the under is 7-1 in Navy last 8 neutral site games. The under is 9-1 in Army last 10 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game and the under is 14-2 in Army last 16 neutral site games while the under is 5-1 in Army last 6 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game. The home team is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings and the under is 7-0 in the last 7 meetings in Army while the under is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings.
This is Army’s best chance at a win against Navy in years, but the number has really dropped…
