Notre Dame Fighting Irish (6-1) at Navy Midshipmen (4-4)
|Date & Time||Saturday November 1, 2014, 8:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Navy Midshipmen +15 -- Over/Under:
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish travel to Landover to take the field with the Navy Midsipmen.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish lost their shot at a perfect season in a 31-27 loss at Florida State in week eight and now much switch gears to face to option attack of Navy on the road. The defeat to the Seminoles says the Fighting Irish had a better then average opportunity at the victory with a 470-323 advantage in real estate with FSU doing their damage in the air while the Irish were pass heavy with a bit of running mixed in. When the Irish did run it was successful with Tarean Foster totaling 120 yards on 21 carries but most of the success came through the air. Everett Golson connected on 31-52 for 313 yards with a trio of touchdowns and a pair of interceptions with Corey Robinson catching eight balls for 99 yards and two TD's.
The Navy Midshipmen face one of their biggest rivals in Notre Dame who pays a visit in week ten. The Middies have rebounded from three consecutive defeats with consecutive victories following a 41-31 victory versus San Jose State in week nine. The option was operating at peak efficiency with 423 yards and over six yards per touch. There were plenty of questions surrounding the health and general overall performance of quarterback Keenan Reynolds over recent weeks but not after week nine. Reynolds went 4-7 through the air for 56 yards but dominated on the ground with 215 yards on 39 carries with three touchdowns. Noah Copeland added another 70 yards and a score on nine totes as Navy took full advantage of San Jose State's porous run defense.
The Fighting Irish are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games while the under is 4-1 in Fighting Irish last 5 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game. For Navy the Midshipmen are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game but are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning road record while the under is 5-0 in Midshipmen last 5 vs. a team with a winning record. Head to head the over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings with the road team is 9-2 ATS in their last 11 meetings with the Fighting Irish going 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings in Navy. This game is usually close or Notre Dame wins big but I'm inclined to take the points and hope for another big game from Reynolds...
