Tulane Green Wave (2-4) at Navy Midshipmen (4-1)
|Date & Time||Saturday October 24, 2015, 1:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Navy Midshipmen -22 -- Over/Under:
The Tulane Green Wave go on the road to face the option of the Navy Midshipmen.
It’s make or break time for the Tulane Green Wave who have to start winning or kiss the postseason good bye. The Green Wave have had trouble scoring and getting stops and that trend continued in a 42-7 loss to visiting Houston to drop the team to 2-4. UH had too much firepower as they led 461-262 in yardage and Tulane was unable to establish the run or pass. Quarterback Devin Powell completed 11-28 for 88 yards with Jordy Joseph coming on to hit 3-5 for 62 yards with Devon Breaux leading the Green Wave with three receptions for 88 yards. Dontrell Hilliard and Rob Kelley gave Tulane some nice gains on the ground with a combined 105 yards on 19 carries with Hiilliard finding the end zone.
The Navy Midshipmen began 2015 at 4-0 and were given a puncher’s chance at upsetting Notre Dame in week six but the Irish pulled away to win 41-24. The Fighting Irish totaled 459 yards and were relatively mistake free while the Middies lost a pair of fumbles and were picked off. Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds was 2-4 for 16 yards and Tago Smith was 1-2 for six yards and an interception which can’t happen when throwing the ball six times. Reynolds paced the Midshipmen rushing attack with 110 yards on 15 carries with Quentin Ezell adding 75 yards and a pair of touchdowns on just six touches. Chris Swain and Smith combined for 106 yards on 24 totes as the Navy option was effective when not making mistakes.
The under is 8-0 in Green Wave last 8 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game and the Green Wave are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games following a SU loss of more than 20 points while Tulane are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game. The Midshipmen are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game and are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 home games while the under is 14-2 in Midshipmen last 16 vs. a team with a losing record. The home team is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings. Navy had a week off to think about their worse performance of the year and I look for a rebound…
