The Wyoming Cowboys will travel to Mackay Stadium to take on the Nevada Wolfpack this Saturday night in College Football action.

The Wyoming Cowboys won their 2nd straight game and improved to 4-2 (2-0 MW) on the season after defeating the Air Force Falcons, 35-26, on October 8th. Wyoming did an outstanding job against the very strong Falcons rushing attack and was able to hang on for the victory after taking a 28-13 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. Wyoming outgained Air Force by a 362-337 margin and won the turnover battle by a 4-1 margin. Leading the way for Wyoming was QB Josh Allen who completed 15 of 17 passes for 173 yards and 3 TD. On the season, the Cowboys are averaging 33.2 ppg on 398.2 total yards per game (200.7 passing, 197.5 rushing). Offensively, Wyoming is led by RB Brian Hill who has 8 TD’s on the season while averaging 120.2 yds/game on 24.2 att/g. QB Josh Allen has completed 58.0% of his passes for 10 TD and 6 INT while averaging 200.7 passing yds/game. Josh Allen is also the 2nd leading rusher for the Cowboys as has 3 rushing TD while averaging 37.7 rushing yds/game. Tanner Gentry (5.7 rec/g, 83.8 yds/g, 5 TD), Jake Maulhardt (3.0 rec/g, 50.3 yds/g, 2 TD), C.J. Johnson (1.3 rec/g, 19.5 yds/g, TD), and Jacob Hollister (1.7 rec/g, 18.7 yds/g, 2 TD) are the leading receivers for the Cowboys. Defensively, Wyoming is allowing their opponents to average 29.7 ppg on 432.2 total yards per game (291.5 passing, 140.7 rushing). Wyoming has forced their opponents into committing 14 turnovers on the season and has an overall turnover margin of +3.

The Nevada Wolfpack dropped to 3-4 (1-2 MW) on the season after being defeated by the San Jose State Spartans, 14-10, this past Saturday. In a close, defensive game throughout, the Wolfpack allowed San Jose State to score the winning TD on a 3-yard rush by Spartans QB Kenny Potter, with just 50 seconds left in the game. Nevada was outgained by San Jose State by a 279-257 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 2-0 margin. On the season, Nevada is averaging just 20.9 ppg on 354.3 total yards per game (179.1 passing, 175.1 rushing). Offensively, the Wolfpack have been led by RB James Butler who has 5 TD on the season while averaging 117.43 yds/game on 22.6 att/g. QB Tyler Stewart has completed 62.7% of his passes for 9 TD and 3 INT while averaging 159.1 passing yds/game. Stewart has also chipped in 2 rushing TD’s on the season. Wyatt Demps (4.1 rec/g, 47.9 yds/g, 6 TD), James Butler (2.9 rec/g, 31.9 yds/g, 2 TD), Andrew Celis (2.0 rec/g, 30.7 yds/g), and Jerico Richardson (2.7 rec/g, 28.3 yds/g, TD) are the leading receivers for the Wolfpack. Defensively, Nevada is holding their opponents to an average of 25.4 ppg on 430.4 total yards per game (179.7 passing, 250.7 rushing). Nevada has turned the ball over just 5 times on the season and has an overall turnover margin of +5.

The Cowboys are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games in October however, just 2-10 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. The Wolfpack are 4-0-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.

Wyoming has looked like a contender early on in conference play this season and is led by one of the best running backs in the country in Brain Hill who 11th in the country is rushing yds/game.  Nevada also has a great running back in James Butler and although they’ve gotten solid QB play by Tyler Stewart and haven’t turnover over the ball, the Wolfpack have had trouble putting points on the board as they have just the 114th ranked scoring offense in the country. Nevada is generally a tough place to play, however, as I like how QB Seth Allen is playing for the Cowboys, along with the fact that Brian Hill should be able to get his yards on a Nevada rushing defense that ranks 122nd in the country, I’m going to take the Cowboys to cover this small road spread. Take Wyoming to cover.
