The San Jose State Spartans look to keep their Bowl hopes alive with a road win versus the Nevada Wolf Pack.
The San Jose State Spartans let one slip through their fingers in a 17-16 loss to visiting Brigham Young in week ten when a two point conversion with 45 seconds remaining failed. The Spartans defense rose to the occasion by limiting the Cougars to 329 yards with Cleveland Wallace recording a 61 yard pick six. The offense struggled to just 289 yards behind a short passing and ordinary rushing attack. Quarterback Kenny Potter completed 18-25 for 147 yards with Billy Freeman leading SJSU with six receptions for 67 yards. Tyler Ervin paced the Spartans with 80 rushing yards on 23 carries.
The Nevada Wolf Pack control their own fate thanks to a 30-16 victory at Fresno State for their third win in four contests to improve to 5-4 with three games remaining. This was up for grabs after 30 minutes with Nevada leading 17-16 before shutting the Bulldogs down in the second half. The Wolf Pack piled up almost 500 yards and allowed just 280 yards while recovering a fumble and intercepting three passes. Quarterback Tyler Stewart gave Nevada 206 passing yards with a touchdown and interception on 12-17 with Hasaan Henderson grabbing fiv passes for 136 yards and a TD. The Wolf Pack dominated on the ground with Don Jackson and James Butler totaling 140 yards and 122 yards respectively.
The under is 4-0 in Spartans last 4 vs. a team with a winning record and the Spartans are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall while going 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games in November. The under is 5-0 in Wolf Pack last 5 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game and is 5-0 in Wolf Pack last 5 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game while going 4-0 in Wolf Pack last 4 vs. a team with a losing record. The under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and the Spartans are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Nevada while going 3-9 ATS in their last 12 meetings. I just like what I see from the Nevada rushing attack at home…
