The Tulsa Golden Hurricane take to the road to face the rushing attack of the New Mexico Lobos.

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane road a 4th quarter rally to send their game to overtime against visiting Florida Atlantic before pulling out a 47-44 victory. This was a offensive fan’s dream with both teams totaling over 1,100 yards. The Golden Hurricane won despite four turnovers because of an explosive passing attack from Dane Evans who threw for 424 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Keevan Lucas paced the Tulsa receiving corps with ten catches for 193 yards and two scores while Keyarris Garrett caught five balls for 163 yards. The Golden Hurricane received 92 rushing yards from D’Angelo Brewer while Zack Langer added 89 yards and three touchdowns.

The New Mexico Lobos are not accustomed to being on the winning end of a big score but they were in week one with a 66-0 demolition of FCS Mississippi Valley State. This was over at the coin flip with the Delta Devils held to a mere 74 yards with a fumble and interception returned for scores. The Lobos had no such issue with a 521 yard explosion that featured a big day rushing the football. Lamar Jordan did give UNM a solid effort in the air with 103 yards on 7-7 while adding 62 yards  and a score with his legs. Daryl Chestnut led the New Mexico ground game with 108 yards on just six touches with a pair of trips to the end zone. Altogether 12 players logged carries and six caught passes as the Lobos went to the bench early.

The Golden Hurricane have not been very good for several years and their defense might not be strong once again but the offense has promise. We can’t draw a thing from the Lobos massacre of Mississippi Valley State because this was zero competition. I do know New Mexico will run against the Golden Hurricane but I think Tulsa is competitive and hopefully enough to cover although I wouldn’t bet the house…

Tulsa +5

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
