CFB | Utah State Aggies (5-3) at New Mexico Lobos (4-4)

The New Mexico Lobos welcome the Utah State Aggies to University Stadium in week ten.

The Utah State Aggies have control of their own fate as in winning out gets them the Mountain West crown. The surging Aggies have won three of four after overwhelming Wyoming 58-27. USU racked up almost 600 yards in a balanced attack while holding the Cowboys to 353 yards and returning a blocked punt for six. Quarterback Kent Meyers led the Aggies offense with 246 passing yards and three touchdowns with Wyatt Houston, Jaren Colston-Green and Brandon Swindall combined for 170 yards on seven receptions with four TD’s. Devante Mays paced Utah State on the ground with176 yards and a pair of scores while Meyers added 48 yards and a touchdown.

At 4-4 the New Mexico Lobos have four games remaining on the schedule and on paper their chances seem to be reasonable regarding the postseason although three of the four games look to be difficult to win at best. The Lobos have dropped two of three following a 31-21 loss at San Jose State. The Spartans totaled almost 500 yards while UNM logged 335 yards which made two turnovers more painful. The New Mexico rushing attack was solid with Teriyon Gipson and Austin Apodaca running for 99 yards and 59 yards respectively. However the Lobos struggled to throw with Apodaca going 8-20 for 130 yards and an interception with Gipson catching a 44 yard pass.

The over is 5-0 in Aggies last 5 games following a ATS win and is 5-0 in Aggies last 5 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game while going  7-0 in Aggies last 7 conference games. The Lobos are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and  are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games in November while going  2-10 ATS in their last 12 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game. The key to beating New Mexico is forcing them to throw and I believe the Aggies are equipped for this…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
