|Date & Time||Saturday November 1, 2014, 4:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: New Mexico State Aggies +8.5 -- Over/Under: 58.5
The Texas State Bobcats will be thinking postseason when they visit the New Mexico State Aggies.
The Texas State Bobcats look to get their offense back on track when they visit New Mexico State in week ten. The Bobcats have won three of four following a 22-18 victory at Louisiana-Monroe but this team isn't going to win many defensive struggles. The Warhawks led 13-0 at the half before the visitors took control in the second with a 22-5 run. UL Monroe led the yardage battle 394-370 with the Warhawks leaning on the pass while the Bobcats were more run heavy. Tyler Jones was efficient in the air but it was very short with a 14-21 effort for 141 yards with 40 yards coming on a touchdown strike to Terrence Franks. Robert Lowe led Texas State on the ground with 91 yards on 17 totes and a pair of TD's with CJ Best adding 86 yards on only six touches.
I think New Mexico State has played a little better football in 2014 then in recent years but a six game slide certainly doesn't back up my statement. They will need to be at their best on both sides of the ball when the dangerous offense of Texas State pays a visit Saturday. Both struggled in a 29-17 loss at Idaho with a 536-314 defict in yardage with the Vandals being able to do a little of everything while the Aggies were much better at the run but killed themselves with four turnovers. The quarterback combination of Anthony Allen and Tyler Rogers completed 9-16 for 100 yards so their three interceptions were absolute killers. Larry Rose III gave the rushing attack some punch with 155 yards on 17 carries with a 33 yard and 79 yard scoring gallops still not enough to compete on the scoreboard.
The Bobcats are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. win with the over going 6-1 in Bobcats last 7 road games and 5-1-1 in Bobcats last 7 games following a ATS win. For New Mexico State the Aggies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a bye week while going 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games. Texas State is the better squad so the Aggies one dimensional ground game has to find the endzone. Even though the Bobcats win I struggle to lay more then a score...
