The New Mexico State Aggies and the New Mexico Lobos will match up on the college football circuit Saturday.
The Aggies enter this one at 0-3 so far. Following a 58-7 loss to Washington State, New Mexico State fell to Alabama 62-10 and San Diego State 31-10.
In the Week 3 loss, Aggies QB Josh Adkins had 299 yards, one TD and two picks. Jason Huntley rushed for 41 yards and Tony Nicholson caught seven balls for 78 yards.
Over on the New Mexico side, they’re 1-1 this year. The Lobos opened up with a 39-31 win over Sam Houston, then fell to Notre Dame in a blowout 66-14.
In the Irish loss, Lobos QB Tevaka Tuioti had 132 yards passing and Bryson Carroll rushed for 69 yards and a TD. Aaron Molina caught two passes for 79 yards to lead the NM receivers there.
The Aggies are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 on grass and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six road games. New Mexico State is 0-4 ATS in their last four versus the MWC and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Lobos are 2-7 ATS in their last nine home games and 1-4 ATS in the last five overall. New Mexico is 0-4 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 1-5 ATS in their last six after a straight-up loss.
New Mexico State has had the misfortune of opening the season versus three really solid squads, so they’ve been playing behind pretty much the entire year. New Mexico isn’t necessarily a powerhouse either, but I don’t see any reason to think the Aggies will be able to close the gap here. I’m pretty firmly on the Lobos in this one.
