The Line: NIU Huskies +9 -- Over/Under:
The Northern Illinois Huskies look to shake up the college football world with an upset of the Utah Utes.
The Utah Utes have their sights on a 2-0 record after routing FCS Weber State 41-10 in their opener. Utah fell behind 10-0 before ripping off 41 straight behind a 587-61 yardage edge that easily over came four turnovers.
Utes quarterback Tyler Huntley connected on 24-39 for 253 yards and four touchdowns with an interception. Siaosi Mariner led Utah with six catches for 73 yards and a score while Zack Moss ran for 150 yards and a TD on 16 carries while catching three pass for another 24 yards and a score.
The Northern Illinois Huskies saw their defense fall apart in the second half of a 33-7 defeat at Iowa in week one. Northern Illinois was outgained 352-211 and turned the ball over twice. NIU quarterback Marcus Childers completed 14-25 for 105 yards and a score along with a interception.
Jauan Wesley topped the Huskies receivers with four receptions for 43 including a ten yard scoring catch with 2:12 remaining. Jordan Nettles gave Northern Illinois 74 rushing yards on 13 touches but the offense was held in check otherwise.
Utah are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and Utah are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game and Utah are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall. Over is 4-0 in NIU last 4 home games and NIU are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and NIU are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games on fieldturf.
I’ll watch this line closely but the Utes should be tough to handle in the trenches which should be a difference maker…
