The North Carolina State Wolfpack bring their offense to visit the Old Dominion Monarchs.
The North Carolina State Wolfpack were dominant on both sides of the ball in a 35-0 win versus FCS Eastern Kentucky to up their record to 2-0. While many expected a one sided outcome the Colonels offense was completely overwhelmed with only 11 yards and seven first downs while the Wolfpack totaled 443 yards with some balance and 40+ minutes of possession. NCSU was strongest in the air with Jacoby Brissett going 17-22 for 216 yards with a touchdown with Jumichael Ramos and Jaylen Samuels combining for 183 yards on 13 receptions. NC State was productive on the ground behind Matt Dayes 24 carry, 116 yard effort with three scores.
The Old Dominion Monarchs are known for their offensive prowess but turned to their defense more then usual in a 24-10 win versus visiting Norfolk State in week two action. The Spartans were held to only 266 yards and their lone touchdown came off a blocked punt in the second quarter that made this a 14-10 game. The Monarchs piled up 460 yards behind a punishing ground game that averaged 5.7 yards per touch with Ray Lawry going for 215 yards on 31 carries and a pair of touchdowns. Zach Pascal gave ODU another 69 yards on eight totes as the rushing attack overshadowed the 122 yards of passing from Shuler Bentley who also threw a pick.
The Wolfpack are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games while going 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games in September. The under is 3-0-1 in Monarchs last 4 games following a S.U. win and ODU are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games while the Monarchs are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games on turf. I hate road chalk but I think the Wolfpack might open some eyes this year…
