The North Carolina State Wolfpack will host The Troy Trojans in thier first game of the season.
NC State has improved over the past couple years and look like they may keep improving. The Wolfpack have a senior quarterback under center in Jacoby Brissett who is a dual threat. NC State relies heavily on the run game averaging over 200 yards a game. NC States lead back Shadrach Thornton is suspended for the first two games so he wont be available this week but Matt Dyes will take over for this week. NC State have lost some big men up front but defensive tackles Justin Jones and B.J Hill have some experience to fill in. NC State's secondary is the strength of their defense, which is led by Safety Hakim Jones and Cornerback Jack Tocho.
Troy enters this year with a new head coach for the first time in a long time. Neal Brown has been named the new head coach for Troy. Troy will look to move to a faster tempo on offense. Brandon Silvers is their man under center. Brandon Burks and Jordan Chunn are the two in the backfield. Troy's defense was not very good last season and cost them a lot of games. Junior college transfers linebacker William Lloyd and Justtin Lucas will be the main leaders on this defense. With a new defense of coordinator Vic Koenning Troy will try to improve on defense.
Troy is 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games against ACC opponents. The under is 4-0 in their last 4 road games. NC State is 5-1 against the spread in their last 6 games in September. The over is 4-1 in their last 5 games in September.
The defense of Troy concerns me and i dont think they will able to stop the rushing attack of the Wolfpack. I think North Carolina State can cover this spread easily at home.
