North Carolina will host the undefeated Illinois Fighting Illini this Saturday.
North Carolina bounced back nicely from their loss against South Carolina by winning 53-14 against North Carolina A&T Aggies. Quarterback Marquise Williams was sharp going 15/20 for 211 yards and 2 touchdowns. Running back Elijah Hood led the team with 16 carries for 56 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wide Receiver Kendrick Singleton had 2 catches for 57 yards and a touchdown. M.J. Stewart and Shakeel Rashad both recorded an interception. North Carolina has seemed to improve greatly from last year when they had one of the worst defenses in the ACC. North Carolina will have another tough test as they host Illinois this Saturday.
The Illinois Fighting Illini have been good so far this season. Illinois is coming off a 44-0 victory against Western Illinois. Quarterback Wes Lunt had a big game going 33/46 for 316 yards and 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Running backs Ke’Shawn Vaughn and Josh Ferguson combined for 28 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown. Wide Receiver Geronimo Allison recorded 8 catches and 124 yards. Marchie Murdock also added 6 receptions for 51 yards and 1 touchdown. Taylor Barton led the defense with 2 interceptions. Illinois will get their first real test this week as they travel to North Carolina to take on the Tar Heels.
Illinois is 4-0 against the spread in their last 4 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game. Illinois is also 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games overall. North Carolina is 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game. North Carolina is 0-4 against the spread in their last 7 games in September.
I think North Carolina will keep improving but i think that Illinois offense will keep this game close. I can see this game going either way so il take the points with Illinois.
