The Eastern Michigan Eagles head to DeKalb, IL on Tuesday for an early week MAC matchup with the Northern Illinois Huskies.  In their last game, Eastern Michigan was victorious, beating the Akron Zips by the score of 42-14.  Eagles quarterback Mike Glass III completed 20 of 25 passes for a total of 246 yards.  Glass III also carried the ball 8 time for 83 yards and a touchdown.  The star of the game was Eastern Michigan running back Shaq Vann who carried the ball 28 times for 142 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Mathew Sexton was the Eagles leading receiver in the game as he caught 4 passes for 76 yards.  The Eastern Michigan defense gave up a total of 342 yards to the Zips, but only 54 of those yards came on the ground.

With the win, Eastern Michigan is now 5-5 on the season and is 2-4 in conference play, which places them in 6th place in the MAC-West Division.  On the year, Glass III has thrown for 2,237 yards and 16 touchdowns against 8 interceptions.  Shaq Vann has led the Eagles in rushing as he has carried the ball 104 times for 493 yards and 6 touchdowns.  Mathew Sexton has been Eastern Michigan’s lead receiver has he has caught 33 passes for 501 yards and 4 touchdowns on the season.

The Northern Illinois Huskies welcome the Eastern Michigan Eagles into town after a win in their last game against the Toledo Rockets by the score of 31-28.  Northern Illinois quarterback Ross Bowers completed 15 of 26 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown.  Huskies running back Tre Harbison carried the ball 32 times for 158 yards and a touchdown.  Northern Illinois most productive receiver was Tyrice Richie who has 6 receptions for 54 yards on the day.  The Northern Illinois defense struggled to contain Toledo all night as they allowed 508 total yards to the Rockets, including 208 on the ground.

With the win, Northern Illinois is 4-6 on the season with a conference record of 3-3 which places them in 4th place in the MAC-West Division.  Ross Bowers has now thrown for 2,140 yards and 7 touchdowns on the season against 8 interceptions.  Tre Harbison has been the Huskies leading rusher and has carried the ball 200 times for 899 yards and 8 touchdowns.  The lead receiver on the year for Northern Illinois is Cole Tucker who has caught 37 passes for 520 yards and 1 touchdown.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles are allowing 27.8 points per game while giving up 31.3 points per game.  The Eagles are also giving up 435.2 yards per game and gaining an average of 389.6.  Northern Illinois is scoring 24 points per game and allowing 27.9 points per game.  The Huskies are giving up 386.2 yards per game and gaining 371.7 yards per game. While this could be a decent matchup between two teams in the MAC-West, I believe that Northern Illinois will be able to pull out a win in this one due to the fact that they are at home and have a slightly better defense than Eastern Michigan.  Northern Illinois wins 35-28 and covers the spread.
