The Line: Notre Dame Fighting Irish -16 -- Over/Under:
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish host the option attack of the Navy Midshipmen in week six.
The Navy Midshipmen have been running their option at peak efficiency and the result has been a 4-0 start to the year following a 33-11 victory versus rival Air Force. The Middies outgained the Falcons 387-277 and recovered three fumbles while recording an interception. Quarterback Keenan Reynolds was key for Navy with 117 passing yards on 4-10 with a 27 yard scoring strike to Thomas Wilson. Reynolds also paced Navy on the ground with 183 yards on 24 carries while Chris Swain added 54 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 18 touches. When Navy is running the ball well and getting turnovers they are tough to handle.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have dreams of a National Championship in 2015 but those hopes were sidetracked in a 24-22 loss at Clemson when a failed two point conversion sealed their fate in the final seconds. ND outgained the Tigers 437-296 with most coming during a spirited 19 point 4th quarter. In the end six fumbles (three lost) and an interception stood between the Irish and a 5-0 start. Quarterback DeShone Kizer gave Notre Dame 321 yards passing with two touchdowns and a pick while adding 60 yards with his legs. The Fighting Irish received a strong effort from CJ Prosise who ran for 50 yards on 15 totes while catching four balls for a game high 100 yards and a score.
The Midshipmen are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game while going 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall. He over is 5-0 in Fighting Irish last 5 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and is 5-0 in Fighting Irish last 5 games following a S.U. loss while the Fighting Irish are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game. The over is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings and the Midshipmen are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 meetings in Notre Dame while the over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Notre Dame. This might be a bad time for the Middies with the Irish probably angry but the points call my name…
