The Ball State Cardinals are gunning for the road upset of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a week two college football bout.
The Ball State Cardinals are gunning for a 2-0 start to 2018 after dominating Central Connecticut State 42-6 in their opener. Ball State held a 692-291 yardage edge and were able to move the football via the run or pass.
Cardinals quarterback Riley Neal was 23-30 for 259 yards with a pair of touchdowns before Drew Plitt got in on the action with a 63 yard TD pass. James Gilbert paced Ball State on the ground with 100 yard on 14 carries and a score while Caleb Huntley added 73 yards on eight touches. Yo’Heinz Tyler topped the Cardinals receivers with TD receptions of 20 and 63 yards.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish look for a 2-0 start to the 2018 season after upending Michigan 24-17 in their opener. Notre Dame took an early 21-3 lead and held on with both teams finishing with around 307 total yards. Fighting Irish quarterback Brandon Wimbush hit on 12-22 for 170 yards with a 43 yard scoring strike to Chris Finke while tossing an interception.
Wimbush ran for 59 yards on 19 carries with Tony Jones Jr. totaling 45 yards on nine touches. Jafar Armstrong gave Notre Dame 13 yard and four yard scoring runs while the defense contained the Wolverines short passing attack. The Fighting Irish special teams allowed a 99 yard kick return that narrowed the lead to 21-10 at the half.
