The Line: Ohio State Buckeyes -21 -- Over/Under:
The Nebraska Cornhuskers and Ohio State Buckeyes meet Saturday in college football action at Ohio Stadium.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers look to create a three-game winning streak while beating their first ranked team since their 2016 win over the Oregon Ducks. The Nebraska Cornhuskers have lost each of their last five road games. Adrian Martinez is completing 66.3 percent of his passes for 1,656 yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions. Martinez has two or more touchdown passes in four of his last five games. JD Spielman and Stanley Morgan Jr. have combined for 1,324 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns while Jack Stoll has 11 receptions. The Nebraska Cornhuskers ground game is averaging 220.6 yards per contest, and Devine Ozigbo leads the way with 710 yards and eight touchdowns. Defensively, Nebraska is allowing 33.4 points and 438 yards per game. Mohamed Barry leads the Nebraska Cornhuskers with 75 tackles, Luke Gifford has 5.5 sacks and Deontai Williams has two interceptions.
The Ohio State Buckeyes look to remain unbeaten at home to stay in the thick of the Big Ten and college football playoff conversations. The Ohio State Buckeyes have lost two home games since the start of the 2015 season. Dwayne Haskins is completing 71.1 percent of his passes for 2,801 yards, 30 touchdowns and five interceptions. Haskins has three or more touchdown passes in six of his eight games this season. K.J. Hill and Parris Campbell have combined for 1,256 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns while Terry McLaurin has 21 receptions. The Ohio State Buckeyes ground game is averaging 171.7 yards per contest, and J.K. Dobbins leads the way with 521 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Ohio State is allowing 22.9 points and 390.8 yards per game. Jordan Fuller leads the Ohio State Buckeyes with 44 tackles, Dre'Mont Jones has 5.5 sacks and Kendall Sheffield has two interceptions.
The Cornhuskers are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 road games, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in November and 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The Buckeyes are 2-6 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games in November and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Cornhuskers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings and the over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings. The over is 5-1 in Cornhuskers last 6 games overall and the over is 11-5 in Buckeyes last 16 conference games.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have put together their first two wins of the season and it could have easily been three if they didn't fall apart on the road against Northwestern. Regardless, Nebraska is outscoring teams by 19.3 points in its last three games and Martinez is getting more and more confident with this offense. The Ohio State Buckeyes have had an extra week to prepare for this game, but there's weird vibes going on with this program. Not only did the Buckeyes get stomped by Purdue, but they allowed previous teams to hang around, and now with the loss, you have to question if that fire is still there. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are 2-2 ATS when an underdog of at least 17 points since 2017. The Ohio State Buckeyes have covered seven of their last 11 games when a favorite of at least 17 points. I'm not jumping on the Nebraska bandwagon, but the offense has shown flashes of consistency recently. I simply have odd vibes with Ohio State right now and wouldn't be shocked if the wheels start to fall completely off at some point. Give me my three free touchdowns.
