The Line: Oregon Ducks -7 -- Over/Under: 75.5
The Oregon State Ducks and Ohio State Buckeyes meet to decide the National Championship at AT&T Stadium.
The Ohio State Buckeyes aare bucking the odds as they have continued to win with their third string quarterback after upending Alabama in the semifinals 42-35 to reach the title game versus Oregon. The Buckeyes offense was in peak form as they totaled 537 yards against a stingy Crimson Tide defense. Their own defense gave up 407 yards but did intercept Blake Sims three times with Steve Miller recording a 41 yard pick six. Cardale Jones gave the OSU offense just enough on 18-35 for 243 yards with a 47 yard touchdown to Devin Smith while tossing a lone interception. The star of the offense was Ezekiel Elliott who ran for 230 yards on 20 carries with 3 yard and 85 yard scoring runs. Devin Smith led OSU in receiving with 87 yards on two catches while Michael Thomas had seven receptions for 66 yards including a 13 yard score.
Another late rally by defending champion Florida State was simply wishful thinking as the Oregon Ducks dominated the Seminoles with a 41-7 second half on the way to a one sided 59-20 win in the semis to earn a spot in the national title game opposite of Ohio State. A 27 point third quarter ended the Noles and Jameis Winston dreams of another National Championship and dealt FSU their first defeat. Florida State moved the football with 528 yards but an interception and seven fumbles (four lost) with Tony Washington returning one 58 yards for six marred what was a good game on paper. The Ducks cut through the FSU defense for 639 yards with Marcus Mariota completing 26-36 for 338 yards with 30 yard and 56 yard TD strikes to Darren Carrington while throwing a lone INT. Mariota added another 62 rushing yards with a 23 yard scoring scamper while Thomas Tyner rambled for 124 yards on 13 totes with a pair of TD's.
The Over is 4-0 in Buckeyes last 4 non-conference games and is 4-0 in Buckeyes last 4 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game while going 10-1 in Buckeyes last 11 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game. For Oregon the Ducks are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games while going 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games on fieldturf. Right now I'm leaning to the points but I would wait to possibly get more then a touchdown...
