The Line: Oklahoma State Cowboys -31.5 -- Over/Under:
The South Alabama Jaguars will visit the Oklahoma State Cowboys in college football action from Boone Pickens Stadium on Saturday, September 8.
The Jags entire this one at 0-1 following a tough 30-26 loss at the hands of Louisiana Tech in their first game. South Alabama was down 20-7 at halftime but put up 19 points in the third and fourth quarters to make things interesting.
Cole Garvin had a pretty rough day passing, going 7-of-16 for 47 yards, one TD and two picks. Evan Orth had two big runs that bagged him 74 yards, while Kawaan Baker put up 51 yards and two scores on six carries.
As for Oklahoma State, they enter here with a 1-0 record this season, following a 58-17 blowout win over the Missouri State Bears in their opener. In that game, the Cowboys posted 31 points in the first half and didn’t let up much the rest of the way.
Taylor Cornelius had a nice outing for the Cowboys in their first week, throwing for 300 yards, five touchdowns and one INT. Justice Hill and La’Darren Brown combined for 232 yards on 19 carries and a pair of TDs.
South Alabama is 18-37 ATS in their last 55 games on turf and 15-31 ATS in the last 46 games overall. The Jaguars are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 road games and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 versus a team with a winning record.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are 6-1 ATS in their last seven non-conference games and 4-1 ATS versus a team with a losing record. OK State is also 7-3 ATS in their last 10 versus the Sun Belt and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 following an ATS loss.
South Alabama experienced some growing pains in their first outing, but if you look a little deeper into the numbers they have some positive takeaways here. As for OK State, their opener couldn’t have gone a whole lot better. The Cowboys will come in here riding high so I’m sticking with OKS here.
