The Line: Oklahoma State Cowboys -47 -- Over/Under:
The Southeastern Louisiana Lions and Oklahoma State Cowboys open the season Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium.
The Southeastern Louisiana Lions look for a bounce back season after winning just four games last year. D'Shaie Landor returns at quarterback after throwing for 1,200 yards and seven touchdowns. Brandon Acker and Da'Quan Smith return at wide receiver after combining for more than 300 yards and three touchdowns while Eugene Bethea had seven receptions. The Southeastern Louisiana Lions ground game averaged 189 yards per contest last season and Julius Maracalin returns after racking up 590 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Southeastern Louisiana allowed 21.8 points and 349 yards per game. Tre' Bennett returns after 45 tackles, Solomon Parker had 2.5 sacks and Demareyeh Lane had two interceptions.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys look to build on a solid 27 victories the last three seasons. Mason Rudolph returns at quarterback after throwing for 3,700 yards and 21 touchdowns. James Washington and Marcell Ateman return at wide receiver after combining for more than 1,800 yards and 15 touchdowns while Jhajuan Seales had 18 receptions. The Oklahoma State Cowboys ground game averaged 126 yards per contest last season and Chris Carson returns after racking up 517 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Oklahoma State allowed 30.5 points and 438 yards per game. Jordan Sterns returns after 108 tackles, Vincent Taylor had five sacks and Ramon Richards had two interceptions.
Oklahoma State is once again going to be one of the top offensive teams in the country. The Cowboys are loaded on that side of the ball and will have no problem pushing 50 points most weeks. Meanwhile, Southeastern Louisiana scored 17 or less points in four of its last seven games last season. Oh, this could be your typical week 1 beatdown.
Give me the Cowboys in a blowout.
