The Line: Oklahoma Sooners -46.5 -- Over/Under: 65
The Louisiana Monroe Warhawks and Oklahoma Sooners meet Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.
The Louisiana Monroe Warhawks look for a quick 2-0 start after beating the Southern Jaguars opening week. Garrett Smith is completing 60.6 percent of his passes for 208 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Smith has four touchdown passes in his last three games. Marcus Green and Ajalen Holley have combined for 107 receiving yards and one touchdown while Jared Mapps has four receptions. The Louisiana Monroe Warhawks ground game is averaging 325 yards per contest, and Smith leads the way with 150 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Louisiana Monroe is allowing 21 points and 376 yards per game. David Griffith leads the Warhawks with 14 tackles, Tre' Hunter has one sack and Aaron Townsend has one interception.
The Oklahoma Sooners hope to bounce back after getting upset by the Houston Cougars. Baker Mayfield is completing 72.7 percent of his passes for 323 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. Mayfield has five touchdown passes in his last three games. Mark Andrews and Joe Mixon have combined for 171 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Dede Westbrook has eight receptions. Will Johnson leads the Sooners with 10 tackles, Jordan Wade has one sack and Charles Walker has one pass deflection.
The Warhawks are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games and 15-7 ATS in their last 22 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. The Sooners are 5-2 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games in September.
This is a lot of points to lay with an Oklahoma squad that showed struggles in its opening game. Louisiana Monroe didn't even lose to Alabama last year by this many points. I'm not sure how you can watch the Sooners play last week and just lay this type of number just because it's the Warhawks, a team that's 3-11 dating back to last season.
I'll take the points and close my eyes.
