The Line: Old Dominion Monarchs -5 -- Over/Under:
The Florida International Golden Panthers butt heads with the Old Dominion Monarchs at Foreman Field.
The Florida International Golden Panthers looked very competitive several weeks ago but not so much the past few weeks and the team wants to get that edge back at Old Dominion. FIU has dropped three in a row following a 31-17 defeat to visiting Rice in week ten. The problem for the Golden Panthers is when opponents push the score to the mid 20's and beyond it's hard to keep up because the offensive weapons are not in place. That was the issue here with the Owls totaling almost 400 yards with some balance while FIU posted 261 yards and struggled in most areas. Napolean Maxwell ran for 88 yards and a touchdown while Alex McGough threw for 132 yards and another score but the Golden Panthers probably needed to double their yardage to win.
The Old Dominion Monarchs and their high powered offense look to end a five game slide when Florida International comes to Foreman Field. The struggling Monarchs have dropped five in a row as they just can't seem to score enough points to overcome a defense that is allowing too many points. ODU fell 42-28 at Vanderbilt in week ten with the Commodores racking up 524 yards with plenty of running and passing ability. On the flip side Old Dominion totaled 336 yards with zero ability to run the ball which meant Taylor Heinicke was charged with moving the chains through the air. Heinicke connected on 21-36 for 291 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception which wasn't competitive especially with less then 15 minutes of possession.
The under is 8-1 in Golden Panthers last 9 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and is 5-1 in Golden Panthers last 6 road games while the Golden Panthers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game. For Old Dominion the Monarchs are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 conference games while the Monarchs are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. loss and are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall. This comes down to whether FIU can score on Old Dominion which I think they can and whether the Golden Panthers defense can at least slow the Monarchs attack which I also think is possible so give me the points...
