The Massachusetts Minutemen have upset on their mind when they visit the Old Dominion Monarchs.
The Massachusetts Minutemen need a win to keep their Bowl dreams alive and kicking. The Minutemen might have let one get away in a 31-24 loss to visiting Tulane which has their backs against the wall at 1-4. UMass was outgained 448-312 with a pair of giveaways and less then 20 minutes of possession. The Minutemen ran the ball well but didn’t run often with Marquis Young, Ross Comis and Andy Isabella combining for 126 yards on 18 carries. Minutemen quarterback Andrew Ford went 11-19 for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns and an interception with Isabella hauling in six passes for 94 yards and two 12 yard scores.
In the past several years, Old Dominion had a well deserved reputation as an offense first squad but the team has started to discover defense which has proven to be beneficial. The Monarchs were rock solid on both sides of the ball in a 52-17 rout of Charlotte which upped their record to 3-2. ODU opened up a 31-3 lead at the break and were never challenged behind a 481-354 edge in real estate and a 3-2 advantage which hurt the 49ers more. Old dominion ran for over 200 yards with Gemonta Jackson six other runners with 55 yards and a score on nine totes. Monarchs quarterback David Washington went 14-25 for 256 yards and three touchdowns and an interception with Zach Pascal and Travis Fulgham snagging TD’s.
The under is 4-0 in Massachusetts last 4 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and Massachusetts are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in October while the over is 7-1 in Massachusetts last 8 vs. a team with a winning record. The over is 8-0 in Old Dominion’s last 8 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game and Old Dominion are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 home games while Old Dominion are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games on turf.
I believe Old Dominion will score on Massachusetts but the Minutemen won’t be able to keep up…
