The Line: Mississippi Rebels +6 -- Over/Under: 51
The Ole Miss Rebels and Alabama Crimson Tide face off on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium is a SEC college football battle of unbeaten teams.
The Ole Miss Rebels have dominated both sides in the ball in all four of their games this season but they have hardly faced he test they will face here. The Mississippi offense is averaging 39 points per game led by QB Bo Wallace who has completed 71 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and six interceptions. Jaylen Walton is the Rebels lading rusher averaging 6.9 yards per carry and I’Tavius Mathers has two rushing touchdowns. Laquon Teadwell is Ole Miss’ leading receiver with 20 catches and Vince Sanders has 18 caches and Cody Core has 17 grabs. Mississippi’s defense is hitting hard allowing just 8.5 points per game with nine interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and eight sacks. Deterrian Shackelford leads the Rebels with 23 tackles, Mike Hilton has 22 tackles, and Marquis Haynes has two sacks. This is the best team Ole Miss has fielded in quite some time.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are off to a 4-0 start and they are number one in the USA Today Poll but they are playing their first true road game of the season. Alabama has played one game away from Tuscaloosa but it was a neutral site game against West Virginia in Atlanta. QB Blake Sims has completed 73.2 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and two interceptions and rushing for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Derrick Henry has been tough to bring down rushing the football for the Tide gaining 320 yards with two touchdowns and T.J. Yeldon has rushed for 284 yards and two touchdowns. Amari Cooper has been one of the top receivers in the nation with 43 catches and five touchdowns, DeAndrew White has 12 catches, and Christion Jones has 10 catches. The Bama defense is allowing 14 points per game and they have two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and seven sacks. Landon Collins leads the Alabama defense with 32 tackles, Reggie Ragland has 19 tackles, and Trey Depriest has 17 tackles even though he has missed a game due to suspension. Alabama is once again loaded with talent and well coached but is their talent developed enough at this point t beat the best teams, we will find out here.
Mississippi is 4-0-1 against the spread in their last five games, 6-2-1 against the spread in their last nine home games, and 3-1-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Alabama is 6-2 against the spread in their last eight SEC games, 1-6-1 against the spread in their last eight games, and 1-4-1 against the spread following a win. The Road team has covered the point spread in five of the last six meetings of these two.
The total is set at 51 but I see this one belonging to the defenses all day long and my free pick is the under. My stronger pick is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
