Ole Miss -33.5 -- O/U: Off
The Southeastern Louisiana Lions and the Ole Miss Rebels meet in a week 3 college football matchup from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium at Hollingsworth Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Southeastern Louisiana Lions will look for a big road win after having their last game with Bethune-Cookman cancelled. Chason Virgil has thrown for 164 yards and a touchdown on 11 of 24 passing while Cole Kelley has 74 yards and 2 touchdowns on 5 of 9 passing. Virgil also shares the team lead in rushing with 37 rushing yards with Devonte Williams while Austin Mitchell leads the Lions in receiving with 4 receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown. As a team, Southeastern Louisiana is averaging 384 yards of total offense and 35 points per game this season.
The Ole Miss Rebels will look to build on their first win of the season, evening their record at 1-1 after a 31-17 win over Arkansas last time out. Matt Corral has thrown for 339 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception on 25 of 43 passing for a 58.1% completion percentage. Scottie Phillips has 205 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns to lead Ole Miss in rushing while Elijah Moore leads the Rebels’ receiving group with 11 catches for 190 yards and 2 touchdowns. Defensively, Keidron Smith leads Ole Miss with 12 tackles while Josiah Coatney is right behind with 11 tackles and a sack and three other Rebels have double-digit tackles this season. As a team, Ole Miss is averaging 328 yards of total offense and 20.5 points per game this season.
Ole Miss hasn’t lit the world on fire offensively in their first two games this season, and the Lions have had an extra week to prepare for this game. Cole Kelley also has some experience against the Rebels from his time with Arkansas over the last couple of years. However, while the Lions racked up some points in their opener, I just don’t think that Southeastern Louisiana has the horses to keep up with the Rebels. I expect Corral and Phillips to break out for Ole Miss, so I’ll lay the points with the Rebels in this one.
