Tennessee-Martin SkyHawks (0-2) at Mississippi Rebels (9-4)
|Date & Time||Saturday September 5, 2015, 12:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Mississippi Rebels -40.5 -- Over/Under: 47.5
The Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks and Ole Miss Rebels play Saturday afternoon at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
The Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks look to build on a solid 6-6 season, as they won five of their last six games. Jarod Neal returns at quarterback after completing 63.5 percent of his passes for 1,880 yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions. William Tanner and Kyle Kerrick combined for more than 900 receiving yards and seven touchdowns while Rod Wright had 21 receptions and two touchdowns. Trent Garland takes over at running back after racking up 499 yards and three touchdowns last year for the Skyhawks. Defensively, Walter Evans picked up 66 tackles last season, Taino Fears-Perez had four pass deflections and Deantae Glover had six tackles for loss.
The Ole Miss Rebels look for another step in the right direction after winning nine games for the first time since 2009. Ryan Buchanan takes over at quarterback after completing 54.5 percent of 22 passes last season. Evan Engram and Laquon Treadwell combined for more than 1,200 receiving yards and seven touchdowns while Cody Core had 41 receptions and six touchdowns. Jaylen Walton remains at running back after leading Ole Miss with 586 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, Mike Hilton returns after leading the Rebels with 71 tackles, Marquis Haynes had nine tackles for loss and C.J. Johnson had four sacks.
This is a lot of points to give a Skyhawks team that returns all of their key guys on offense. Tennessee-Martin lost to Miss State by just 29 points last year and scored 37 or more points in three of its last four games.
Sure, Ole Miss is an SEC contender, but the Skyhawks can put points on the board. I'll take my chances with the truckload of points.
