The Oregon State Beavers and the Arizona State Sun Devils face off on Saturday in Corvallis in a Pac-12 college football matchup.
The Oregon State Beavers have lost four games in a row and five of heir last six as they are watching their bowl chances slip away. OSU is averaging 26.8 points and389 yards per game led by QB Sean Mannion who has completed 63.9 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. Terron Ward has gained 548 yards rushing and scored nine touchdowns to leads he Beavers ground game and Victor Bolden is Oregon State’s leading receiver with 51 catches and a touchdown. The Oregon State defense allows 29.8 points and 384.7 yards per game with 14 takeaways and 22 sacks. Ty Zimmerman has 68 tackles, Michael Doctor has 54 tackles, and D.J. Alexander has 52 tackles. This season has turned disappointing for Oregon State.
The Arizona State Sun Devils are 8-1 for the season and after their win over Notre Dame last Saturday they are in the mix for a possible spot in the college football playoff. A lot has to happen for ASU to make the playoff but winning out is a very important part of the equation. The Arizona State offense is averaging 36.7 points and 475.7 yards per game and they are led by QB Taylor Kelly who has completed 59.5 percent of his passes with 12 touchdowns and three interceptions and he has rushed for 248 yards and three touchdowns. D.J. Foster leads the Sun Devils ground attack with 821 yards and six touchdowns and Jaleen Strong has 62 receptions and nine touchdowns as Arizona State’s leading receiver. The Arizona State defense allows 24.9 points and 396.6 yards per game with 16 takeaways and 27 sacks. Jordan Simone has 82 tackles, Damarious Randall has 79 tackles, and Marcus Hardison has six sacks. Arizona State’s lone loss was to UCLA in a game where Kelly was injured.
Oregon State is 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games, 0-4 against the spread in their last four Pac-12 games, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six home games against a team with a winning road record. Arizona State is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, 5-0 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 5-2 against the spread in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record.
