The Line: Oregon Ducks -22.5 -- Over/Under: 70
The Oregon Ducks and the Arizona Wildcats face off on Thursday at Autzen Stadium for a Pac-12 college football battle.
The Oregon Ducks are looking for redemption after falling apart last season and thus far they are playing with purpose as they are off to a 4-0 start. The Ducks have been convincing especially at home where they own a big win against Michigan State already this season. The Oregon offense is averaging 48.5 points per game led by QB Marcus Mariota who has completed 74 percent of his passes with 13 touchdowns without throwing an interception while rushing for 214 yards and three touchdowns. Royce Freeman is also earing it up on the ground for the Ducks with 261 yards and five touchdowns and Byron Marshall is averaging 9.6 yards per carry and is leading the team in receptions with 18. Devon Allen has 14 receptions with 5 touchdowns and Keanon Lowe has 14 receptions as the Oregon offense has just been a machine. The Oregon defense is allowing 21.2 points per game, has four interceptions, 12 sacks, and four fumble recoveries. Reggie Daniels has 28 tackles to lead the Ducks defense, Erick Dargan has 24 tackles and three interceptions, and Ifo Ekpre-Olomu is among those with 20 tackles. Oregon is simply going to be a handful this season no matter who they face.
The Arizona Wildcats are off to a 4-0 start and while they haven’t always looked overpowering, it’s tough to argue or complain about being unbeaten. Arizona needed a Hail Mary in their last game to beat Cal as trailed up until the last play of the game. The Arizona offense is averaging 39.7 points per game led by QB Anu Solomon who has completed 62.7 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and an interception while rushing for another 121 yards. Nick Wilson leads the Arizona ground attack with with 449 yards and four touchdowns while Cayleb Jones has 16 catches and three touchdowns and Samajie Grant has 14 catches and a touchdown. The Arizona defense is allowing 21.3 points per game, has two interceptions and six sacks. Scooby Wright leads the Wildcat defense with 33 tackles and two sacks, Jared Tevis has 31 tackles, and William Parks has 17 tackles and an interception. It is going to take a perfect effort from Arizona to give them a chance here.
Oregon is 12-4 against the spread following a bye week, 2-7 against the spread in their last nine games, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games. Arizona is 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games, 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games, and 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record. The home team has covered the point spread in five of the last seven meetings of these two.
The total in this one is set at 70 but I don’t have it going quite that high so my free pick is the under. My stronger pick is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
