The Line: Oregon Ducks -47 -- Over/Under:
The UC Davis Aggies and Oregon Ducks open the 2016 season Saturday afternoon at Autzen Stadium.
The UC Davis Aggies have nowhere to go but up after finishing 9-25 the last three seasons. Ben Scott returns at quarterback after throwing for 1,598 yards and 11 touchdowns. Manusamoa Luuga and Chris Martin return at wide receiver after combining for more than 1,000 yards and six touchdowns while Derek Baljeu had 24 receptions. The UC Davis Aggies ground game averaged 121 yards per contest last season and Luuga returns after racking up 613 yards and six touchdowns. Defensively, UC Davis allowed 34.2 points and 448 yards per game. Darryl Graham returns after 76 tackles, Brandon Weaver had three sacks and Patrick Wells had one interception.
The Oregon Ducks hope for a bounce back season after finishing with a 9-4 record. Dakota Prukop takes over at quarterback after transferring from Montana State. Darren Carrington and Dwayne Stanford return at wide receiver after combining for more than 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns while Charles Nelson had 17 receptions. The Oregon Ducks ground game averaged 279 yards per contest last season and Royce Freeman returns after racking up 1,836 yards and 17 touchdowns. Defensively, Oregon allowed 37.5 points and 485 yards per game. Tyree Robinson returns after 64 tackles, Henry Mondeaux had four sacks and Ugo Amadi had two interceptions.
UC Davis has some experienced playmakers who can make some plays against an Oregon defense that was awful last season. However, I dubt the Aggies can keep up with the consistency of the Ducks offense. We all know Oregon scores and scores often, and that's not changing despite the change at quarterback.
UC Davis was blown out a lot last year. This will be no different.
