The Line: Purdue Boilermakers +1.5 -- Over/Under:
The Minnesota Golden Gophers and Purdue Boilermakers play Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers look to win four of their last five games and bounce back from a loss to Northwestern. Mitch Leidner is completing 57.2 percent of his passes for 950 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. Leidner has a touchdown pass in five of his last 10 games. KJ Maye and Drew Wolitarsky have combined for 477 receiving yards and four touchdowns while Eric Carter has 17 receptions. The Minnesota Golden Gophers ground game is averaging 141.2 yards per contest, and Rodney Smith leads the way with 395 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Minny is allowing 20.2 points and 312.4 yards per game. Cody Poock leads the Gophers with 36 tackles, Steven Richardson has 2.5 sacks and Eric Murray has two forced fumbles. Antonio Johnson, Briean Boddy-Calhoun and Damarius Travis are questionable.
The Purdue Boilermakers could use a win here to snap a three-game losing streak. David Blough is completing 60.3 percent of his passes for 487 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Blough and Austin Appleby have combined for eight picks. DeAngelo Yancey and Danny Anthrop have combined for 484 receiving yards and four touchdowns while Cameron Posey has nine receptions. The Purdue Boilermakers ground game is averaging 164.2 yards per contest, and Markell Jones leads the way with 405 yards and fve touchdowns. Defensively, Purdue is allowing 33 points and 433.4 yards per game. Ja'Whaun Bentley leads the Boilermakers with 49 tackles, Antoine Miles has four sacks and Leroy Clark has five pass deflections. Domonique Young and Jimmy Herman are questionable.
The Golden Gophers are 12-3 ATS in their last 15 conference games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Boilermakers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games in October and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games. The Golden Gophers are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 meetings in Purdue and 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 meetings overall.
Minnesota is better coached and has more talent than Purdue. I'm actually surprised that the line is this low. Oddmakers are putting a little too much stock into the Golden Gophers blowout loss to a solid Northwestern club. Take Minny and don't look back.
