The Minnesota Golden Gophers and Purdue Boilermakers meet Saturday in college football action at Ross-Ade Stadium.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers look for their second road victory to improve to 4-0 record. The Minnesota Golden Gophers have lost four of their last six road games. Tanner Morgan is completing 66.7 percent of his passes for 699 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions. Morgan has two or more touchdown passes in three of his last four games. Rashod Bateman and Tyler Johnson have combined for 528 receiving yards and five touchdowns while Chris Autman-Bell has six receptions. The Minnesota Golden Gophers ground game is averaging 123.6 yards per contest, and Rodney Smith leads the way with 210 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Minnesota is allowing 29.3 points and 303.3 yards per game. Jordan Howden leads the Minnesota Golden Gophers with 17 tackles, Carter Coughlin has one sack and Chris Williamson has one interception.
The Purdue Boilermakers need a victory here to get back to a .500 record. The Purdue Boilermakers have split their last eight home games. Elijah Sindelar is completing 65.4 percent of his passes for 932 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions. Sindelar has 11 touchdown passes on his last 148 pass attempts. Rondale Moore and Brycen Hopkins have combined for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns while Amad Anderson Jr. has 13 receptions. The Purdue Boilermakers ground game is averaging 50 yards per contest, and Zander Horvath leads the way with 91 yards on 31 carries. Defensively, Purdue is allowing 30.7 points and 438.7 yards per game. Ben Holt leads the Purdue Boilermakers with 35 tackles, Anthony Watts has two sacks and Dedrick Mackey has one interception.
The Golden Gophers are 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 games on grass and 14-3-4 ATS in their last 21 games following a ATS loss. The Boilermakers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a bye week, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Golden Gophers are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 meetings in Purdue and the favorite is 12-5-1 ATS in their last 18 meetings. The over is 40-19-1 in Boilermakers last 60 home games. The under is 5-2 in Golden Gophers last 7 games overall.
Elijah Sindelar is still questionable for this game, and with him battling a concussion, I have to assume he's not going to play. With that said, the Minnesota Golden Gophers aren't a great road team dating back to last season and have been in nothing but battles in all three games this year. The Purdue Boilermakers have had an extra week to get Jack Plummer ready if he's going to be the starter, and the home team has won eight of the last nine meetings between Minnesota and Purdue, often in blowout fashion. Give me the Boilermakers.
