The Line: Rice Owls +10 -- Over/Under:
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs visit Rice Stadium to oppose the rival Rice Owls in week nine.
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are trying to stay in the chase for the conference crown each and every time they take the field and it was mission accomplished in week eight’s 45-16 thrashing of Middle Tennessee State. This was a 35-10 game at the half with La Tech leading 470-414 in yardage while forcing three turnovers and playing error free themselves. Quarterback Jeff Driskel paced the Bulldogs attack with 294 passing yards and two touchdowns on 18-28 with Carlos Henderson snagging a 55 yards scoring strike while Kenneth Dixon was key on the ground with 66 yards on 14 carries with three sores while also snagging a 35 yard touchdown pass.
The Rice Owls rode a touchdown with just 24 seconds remaining to turn back a determined Army 38-31 to stay in contention for a Bowl. The Owls held a 432-396 yardage edge but lost a pair of fumbles and allowed 378 rushing yards. However the passing of quarterback Driphus Jackson carried the offense with 267 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 20-30 while Temi Alaka and Zach Wright each recorded six receptions for 177 yards. Darik Dillard paced the rushing attack with 89 yards on ten carries and a trip to the end zone with Austin Walter adding 39 yards on four touches but this game was all about the Rice passing attack.
The over is 4-0 in Bulldogs last 4 road games and the Bulldogs are 8-0 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game while the over is 6-1 in Bulldogs last 7 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game. The over is 4-0 in Owls last 4 games following a S.U. win and the under is 4-0 in Owls last 4 home games vs. a team with a winning road record while the Owls are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 home games. Overall I see more things I like from a solid Louisiana Tech…
