SDSU -. SDSU -4

The Central Michigan Chippewas travel to Albuquerque, NM on December 21st for a game against the San Diego State Aztecs in the New Mexico Bowl.  The Chippewas finished the season with a record of 8-5, winning the MAC West before losing the MAC Conference Championship game to Miami of Ohio by the score of 26-21.  Central Michigan quarterback Quinton Dormady finished the regular season with 2,148 passing yards and throwing for 14 touchdowns against 6 interceptions.  Jonathan Ward led the way for Central Michigan on the ground and was the Chippewas leading rusher this season, carrying the ball 174 times for 1,082 yards and scoring 15 touchdowns.  Kalil Pimpleton was the leading receiver for Central Michigan on the year as he caught 79 passes for 823 yards and 6 touchdowns.

The San Diego State Aztecs will make the trip to the New Mexico Bowl after finishing the regular season with a record of 9-3.  The Aztecs finished in 2nd place in the Mountain West Conference’s, West Division.  Aztecs quarterback Ryan Agnew finished the season throwing for 2,175 yards and 11 touchdowns against 5 interceptions.  Running back Juwan Washington was San Diego State’s leading rusher on the season as he carried the ball 150 times for 500 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Wide receiver Kobe Smith led the Aztecs in receiving on the season, catching 57 passes for 673 yards and 4 touchdowns on the year.

Central Michigan scored an average of 31.9 points per game this season while allowing 26.8 points per game.  The Chippewas gained an average of 445.6 yards per game while allowing an average of 351.5 yards per game.  San Diego State scored 19 points per game while allowing just 12.8 points per game.  The Aztecs gained an average of 329.3 yards per game while allowing 288.7 yards per game.  I am going to go with San Diego State in this one as the Aztecs defense was incredible all season.  I believe that San Diego State will be able to slow down the Central Michigan offense enough to take advantage of the Chippewa’s defense and pull out in a win in this one.  San Diego State wins 21-17 and covers the spread.
