The Line: San Diego State Aztecs -21 -- Over/Under:
The San Diego State Aztecs butt heads with the Idaho Vandals at Qualcomm Stadium on Saturday night.
The Idaho Vandals had hoped for better things in their first season in the Sun Belt but it has been mostly a struggle as their 1-7 record indicates as rhey visit San Diego State in week eleven. The Vandals are looking to rebound from a 44-28 defeat at the hands of visiting Arkansas State. Idaho led this 28-24 before a 14-0 4th quarter spurt by the Red Wolves gave them some breathing room. Both teams finished with 440+ yards but this game was decided by a whopping eight Idaho turnovers which were four lost fumbles and four picks. Matt Linehan completed 11-22 for 93 yards and three INT's with Chad Chalich going 6-9 for 113 yards and an interception. Elijah Penny and Jerrel Brown were the nucleus of a solid Vandals rushing attack with a combined 219 yards and four touchdowns on 31 touches.
The San Diego State Aztecs look to get back in the win column against visiting Idaho with an eye on making the postseason. If the Aztecs are to get the win they need better performances on both sides of the ball then we saw in a 30-14 loss to Nevada in which the Wolf Pack rode a 17-0 spurt in the 4th quarter to an easy victory. Both squads gained around 330 yards the Aztecs struggling to stop the Nevada ground game which totaled 229 yards while SDSU was balanced but far from outstanding in any one area. Quinn Kaehler connected on 21-36 for 189 yards with a touchdown and interception while Donnel Pumphrey paced the run with 85 yards on 13 carries with Chase Price added another 58 yards on eight touches including a one yard scoring plunge.
The Vandals are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. MWC while the over is 3-0-1 in Vandals last 4 road games with the Vandals going 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS win. For San Diego State the under is 5-0 in Aztecs last 5 games on grass while the over is 5-0 in Aztecs last 5 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game with the under going 8-0 in Aztecs last 8 games overall. If you watch Idaho then you know nothing is for certain and how they turned the ball over eight times against Arkansas State boggles my mind. No real feel here but I'm simply taking the points because there are a lot..
