The South Alabama Jaguars look for their second win on the road versus the San Diego State Aztecs.
The South Alabama Jaguars weren’t given much of a chance at Nebraska and that proved to be true in a 48-9 defeat where the Cornhuskers were able to both run and throw effectively. On the flip side the Jaguars fumbled four times and lost two and tossed a pick which didn’t help their 332 yards of offense. USA was in desperate need of a productive rushing attack to keep the Cornhuskers offense on the sideline but the team totaled around 50 yards which wasn’t enough. The Jaguars did throw the ball well with Cody Clements completing 23-40 for 271 yards and an interception but they struggled to find the endzone and Nebraska did not.
The San Diego State Aztecs knew they would need some points going against the prolific Cal offense in week two but an improved Golden Bears defense prevented that in a 35-7 defeat. The highlight of the game was the Aztecs took a 7-0 lead in to the second quarter before Cal took over on the way to a 485-326 edge in yards. Donnel Pumphrey was the lone source of running for SDSU with 85 yards on 21 carries but that wasn’t enough to take the focus off the passing of Maxwell Smith who threw for 136 yards with a touchdown and interception. Eric Judge led the Aztecs with a pair of receptions for 53 yards but the bottom line was the offense couldn’t move the chains.
The over is 4-0 in Jaguars last 4 non-conference games. and is 4-0 in Jaguars last 4 games overall while South Alabama are 0-8 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game. The under is 6-0 in Aztecs last 6 games in September and is 5-0 in Aztecs last 5 games following a S.U. loss while going 4-0 in Aztecs last 4 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game. Right now I’ll back San Diego State but I’ll dig more in to this…
